The Henry County YMCA is starting LIVESTRONG at the YMCA. This program will be offered as a no cost program to participants.
Are you a cancer survivor or do you know someone who has battled/is battling this disease? The Henry County YMCA is starting LIVESTRONG at the YMCA. This program will be offered as a no cost program to participants. The focus of this program is to help people impacted by a cancer diagnosis enhance their health and fitness as well as rebuild their strength. The kickoff event for the program is scheduled for 6 pm on Wednesday, February 6, at the Henry County YMCA.
The LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program is a place where cancer survivors can get back on their feet and be a part of a small, supportive group of people.
-12 weeks long
-Two 90-minute sessions a week
-Sessions include cardio conditioning, strength training, balance, and flexibility exercises
-Sessions will be held in the YMCA Wellness Center
"We're excited to provide a place for people impacted by cancer to gather together, support each other, and build healthy habits," shared Kelsay Smith, Director of Member Relations. "We’re so excited to have a partnership with Henry Community Health, and they have helped us with staffing the program."
While this is the first time for the Henry County YMCA to offer the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program, the program has partnered with other YMCA locations since 2007. Past participants experienced improved health and quality of life. They had high level of satisfaction and planned to continue this exercise program.
