It's time to sign up for fall dance classes.
It’s time to sign up for dance classes at the YMCA. These classes are taught by experienced dancers who are studying dance at Anderson University. The classes are open to boys and girls ages 3-12 years old. The monthly cost for classes is $30 for members and $45 for program participants. Classes begin September 4 and are held every Tuesday for 45 minutes at the Y. There is a low costume fee which will be due prior to the dance recital in December.
Types of classes available: Tap- a form of dance performed by wearing shoes fitted with metal taps, characterized by rhythmical tapping of the toes and heels. Ballet- an artistic dance form performed to music using precise and highly formalized set steps and gestures. Jazz- a form of dance that is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns. Hip-Hop- a dance style, usually danced to hip-hop music, that evolved from the hip-hop culture. While breakdancing consists primarily of moves executed close to the ground, the majority of hip-hop moves are performed standing up.
We are also offering private lessons, which can consist of any of the dance styles listed above. Private lessons can also include contemporary dance.
