Dance Classes Start Soon

It’s time to sign up for dance classes at the YMCA.

It’s time to sign up for dance classes at the YMCA. These classes are taught by experienced dancers who are studying dance at Anderson University. The classes are open to boys and girls ages 3-12. The monthly cost is $30 for members and $45 for program participants. Classes begin January 15 and are held every Tuesday at the Y. There is a low costume fee which will be due prior to the dance recital in May.

Tap: a form of dance performed wearing shoes fitted with metaltaps, characterized by rhythmical tapping of the toes and heels.

Ballet: an artistic dance form performed to music usingprecise and highly formalized set steps and gestures.

Jazz: a form of dance that is energetic and fun,consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns.

Hip-Hop: is a dance style, usually dancedto hip-hop music, that evolved from the hip-hop culture. Whilebreakdancing consists primarily of moves executed close to the ground, themajority of hip-hop moves are performed standing up.

We are also offering private lessons, which can consist ofany of the dance styles listed above. Private lessons can also includecontemporary dance.
